Job Description

Reviews and analyzes CNESST cases to be appealed to the Tribunal Administratif du Travail (TAT) by the employee and/or Canada Post Corporation. The Tribunal Appeals Specialist has the authority to decide which cases will be represented at the Tribunal. In their decision-making, the Specialist will take into consideration the objective of maximizing financial efficiency, protecting corporate assets, and the interest of the corporation.

Job Responsibilities

 

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Tribunal Appeals Specialist:

 

  • Represents the corporation before the TAT, including the conciliation and/or mediation process and makes decisions, within a limited time frame with consideration to the administrative, economic and public relation consequences of their decisions or positions,
     
  • Escalates to the Manager, matters that impact on Corporate policy, are sensitive, impact on the Corporate image and/or interests and have broader financial consequences.

 

Job Responsibilities (continued)

 

  • Considers the financial impact of appeals on a case-by-case basis,

 

  • Keeps current on Federal and CNESST law and regulations and associated jurisprudence,

 

  • Maintains through training and continuing education, an up-to-date level of competency of all Injury on Duty and CNESST related matters.

Qualifications

 

Education Requirements

 

  • Completed Bachelor of Law or a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
     

 

  • Member of the Quebec bar is an asset

 

Experience

 

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience


 

  • 1 or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset
