Job Description

Demonstrating a keen eye for detail in a time sensitive environment, you will supervise and perform maintenance activities to ensure the operational efficiency of mail handling and processing equipment. You will also keep appropriate computerized and manual maintenance records. As an analytical problem solver, you will conduct investigations and recommend and implement preventative actions.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative and system maintenance
• Read and interpret schematic, blueprints, wiring diagrams and specifications
• Assist in and perform trouble shooting
• Apply testing and diagnostic procedures
• Perform installation and removal of equipment as required
• Perform adjusting, repair and overhaul work on mail handling, mail processing and related equipment as breakdowns occur

• Ensure that equipment is operating effectively and efficiently.
• Plans and organizes the workload for a team
• Communicate effectively
• Complete documentation and prepare reports
• Supervise/lead a team of technical employees

Qualifications

Education:
• Completion at minimum of a 2 year post-secondary program in electronics. DEC in Quebec. (These trades/programs could include electronic technician/technologist)

Experience:
• At least one year experience within the last five years as a working member of a technical group and demonstrated experience taking the lead role.
• Five years experience within the last ten years in the maintenance and repair of a variety of automated electronic systems and equipment, or a diploma per educational requirements above funded by Canada Post in the last five years.

Knowledge:
• Understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation and modification of electronic systems and equipment.
• Testing, diagnosis and adjusting of electronic systems and equipment
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and principles such as hydraulics, pneumatics and servo controllers, etc.
• Knowledge of the concepts and techniques of leading a group of technical employees to accomplish results efficiently.

Physical Abilities:
• Must be able to exercise physical effort in lifting heavy equipment and tools and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions including cramped spaces, heights and other awkward positions.
• Must be able to safely lift items that weigh less than 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds)

Skills & Abilities:
• Operate a computer and use programs such as Windows, MS Office
• Run and interpret computer diagnostics.
• Provide leadership as a working member of a group to plan, schedule and assign work, instruct in work methods, procedures and coordinate efforts.
• Assign and review work in progress and upon completion to ensure work standards and schedules are met.
• Implement corrective action when standards are not met.
• Troubleshoot

Other Information

• You will be required to pass a pre-employment test and an interview.
• Some travel maybe required.
