Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and work closely with Route Measurement to ensure the restructuring of delivery routes and establishment of new delivery service to achieve operational efficiency, implement corporate initiatives and meet service demands and commitments
- Ensure the integrity of all data in systems and the timely and accurate identification of mail volume and labour data to Production Control and Reporting (PC&R), work with PC&R to establish the optimum resource requirements by forecasting, controlling and identifying productivity (labour hours) efficiencies, and participate in the planning, development and achievement of the annual Operating plans
- Monitor, review and analyze data/information, report on the performance of the delivery area, and put in place, as required, corrective measures and controls to ensure the achievement of performance targets
- Inspect/audit all areas and aspects of the delivery operations to ensure adherence to corporate and legislated regulations and procedures
- Monitor compliance with corporate addressing systems and policies and take corrective action to ensure offices are current with AMS (Address Management System)
- Direct, coach and provide guidance and leadership to supervisors and employees, oversee staffing, the development of objectives and performance management including attendance management, resolve staff issues including taking disciplinary action when required, consult with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement including the management of first level grievances, and create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff

- Promote and implement workplace safety and health programs for the work unit including: coaching and providing direction to supervisors and employees on safe work practices in order to reduce accident frequency and severity; investigating and reporting accident incidents; addressing and resolving health and safety issues in a timely and efficient manner; chairing or participating as a member of the local health and safety committee; ensuring safety inspections are conducted by supervisors; and taking corrective action to rectify unsafe conditions
- Ensure employees are aware of mail security procedures and practices with respect to equipment, premises, vehicles, postal values, street furniture and other corporate assets, identify security concerns and problems, and take corrective action to resolve them
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and work alongside Supervisors to communicate change and respond to employee concerns
- Project professional service standards and ensure the customer experience is a priority when investigating and resolving service issues and complaints
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent Experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a supervisor in collection and delivery/transportation OR Minimum 4 years’ experience managing a team within a unionized environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., understand the major features of each software application)
Other Candidate Requirements
- Possess a valid permanent driver’s license (no graduated or temporary license)
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record per CPC’s Driver Safety Program , which includes:
a) Have not received more than 2 moving violations in last 3 year
b) Have not had more than three demerit points assigned in one single violation
c) Have not had license suspension or prohibition of any kind in last 3 years
