Applying for a job

The questions below are related to applying for a job at Canada Post.

How do I apply?

Only resumes received through our online application system will be considered.  All applications must be submitted via our careers site by completing the steps below:

1. Visit us at Canada Post – careers.. You can search for specific opportunities by job area, keyword, geographic location, job title or business function.

2. To view details of individual job openings, click on the job title to get the full posting.

3. Once you have found a job for which you are interested in applying, click on the "Apply now" button.

4. If you don’t already have an account, you will be prompted to create one. This step is required in order to apply for jobs at Canada Post. Your profile and resume will be saved in our secure database.

5. Once your account is created, follow the instructions to submit your resume and cover letter.

6. You will be asked to complete the skills criteria section and answer the screening questions specific to that job.

7. You can also create a job alert, which will inform you whenever a new job is posted that matches your criteria.

Only resumes received through our online application system will be considered. Due to high application volumes, only candidates selected for interviews are contacted.

 

Do I need to create an account to apply for a job?

Yes, you must have an account with a candidate profile to apply for a job. Once you have created and saved your profile, your account password will be emailed to you. Use this password to access your profile and apply for jobs.

 

What will you do with the personal information in my candidate account?

We take the requirement to appropriately safeguard your personal information very seriously. Your personal information is collected in compliance with the Privacy Act and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

The personal information collected as part of the recruitment process will be used for the purposes of assessing your qualifications for employment at Canada Post. Your personal information will be retained in compliance with Canada Post’s Records and Information Management Policy.

 

How do I edit my application?

You can edit your application at any time by logging into your candidate profile.   To update your resume or cover letter select the “My documents” section.  To make any changes to your personal information select the “Profile information”.

 

What if my resume has changed?

You can update your documents at any time through your candidate account. Sign in to your account, then update your documents under the “My documents” section of your profile.

 

I see on the job posting that the application deadline has passed. Can I still apply?

If the job appears under the current career opportunities, you can still apply as the job is still currently active. It’s possible that the job closing date was not updated correctly.

 

Can I reapply for a job I’ve already applied for?

The system is designed to accept one application per job, and since you have already applied to this position the system will not permit you to apply again.

For your reference, you can view your application status to previously applied jobs in your candidate account under “Jobs applied”.

 

Can I apply for a job using Indeed or LinkedIn?

When you access a job posting via Indeed or LinkedIn and click on “Apply”, it will take you to our Canada Post careers site to create a job application.

 

Can I apply for several jobs at the same time?

Yes. Canada Post advertises all job opportunities on our careers site. You may apply to any job posting that matches your interest and experience.

 

Do I have to fill out a new profile each time I apply for a job?

No, the information in your profile is automatically linked to your application every time you apply for a job. You can update your profile at any time.

 

Do you accept hard copy resumes?

No. We do not accept printed or email copies of resumes or other application documents. All applications must be completed through your candidate account on our careers site.

 

Do you have the same recruitment process as the federal government?

There may be some similarities with the recruitment process for the federal government, but Canada Post is not part of the federal government. Canada Post is a federally legislated Crown Corporation and has its own recruitment process.

 

Why am I asked to self-identify as one or more designated groups (from Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and women) during the application process?

Do I have to be a Canadian citizen to apply for a job opportunity?

In order to apply to Canada Post, applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

As an employer, Canada Post has a responsibility to ensure that it only employs individuals who are legally authorized to work. This responsibility necessitates verifying that a candidate is and continues to be eligible to work in Canada.

Please note, Canada Post does not provide work permits. If your eligibility to work in Canada is pursuant to a work permit or other permit or authorization from the Government of Canada, it is your responsibility to obtain all necessary documentation required and provide all relevant documents upon request.

 

I don’t speak English well.  Can I find a job at Canada Post?

All Canada Post employees are required to speak either English or French fluently (or both English and French) based on the position’s requirements.

 

I’m trying to apply, why don’t I see an “Apply” button?

There is an “Apply” button located on the top right and bottom right of every job posting. You may have a temporary pop-up blocker enabled on your device that prevents the button from appearing. You must temporarily disable the pop-up blocker in order to apply.

How can I access my profile if my password is expired or invalid?

On the sign in page, please click the “Forgot your password” link below the "Enter your password" field. If an account matches the information you entered, then you will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.

If you don’t see the password reset email, check your junk mail folders and double check that the email address you provided is the same address used to create your profile. If you still do not receive an email, then no matching account was found for the information you provided. In this case, please create a new account.

 

I’m trying to apply, why can’t I submit my application?

It is important that all indicated areas of the job-specific information section are completed as requested. A common oversight is omitting the “Conflict of Interest” follow up question.
