Job Description

Working in a team deployed across the regions and reporting to a national manager, the Analyst, Cyber Investigations works independently as primary client resource for their digital/cyber needs related to desktop, network and mobile investigations, including but not limited to networks, telephony, mobility and communications devices, computers and peripherals, desktop and mail operations business applications. Liaises with Specialists on their behalf to manage incident, and develops and/or deploys solutions and support to ensure operational business continuity. Provides IT advice and support in the acquisition of new tools and systems to support Security and Investigative Services or the Corporation. Manages relationships with Internal CPGOC, external contractors and other Specialists and ensures the timely and cost-effective provision of resolutions and services.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Analyst, Cyber Investigations.

  • Requires extensive knowledge in computers and information systems. As primary Cyber Investigator and forensic technician, provides end-to-end support to investigators and legal affairs clients and other technical CPC groups and/or contractors to ensure digital security. Investigates internal and external IT Security policy breaches & cyber threats. Educates clients to improve awareness on policy and procedure using digital devices in the environment.


  • Resolves directly or liaises with systems internal and outsourced IT incident management teams to prioritize incidents and issues and minimize impact to business operations. Maintains contact with the client until the issue is fully resolved.


  • Supports S&IS users in the day-to-day use of CPC computing equipment. Responsible for developing procedures and standards for maintenance and repair of equipment. Provides advice on server, desktop, telephony and mobility needs. Ensures vendors meet or exceed terms of respective Service Level Agreements (SLA).


  • Works with other CPC groups or contractors to provide a review of all certification and accreditation documents for new projects, out of phase and upgrades to ensure all aspects of the project meet security standards including, network, hardware and software facets. Provides recommendations on shortfalls and provides due diligence prior to approving to next level.


  • Participates in projects as computing and communications IT security lead. Analyzes security, determines issues and recommends solutions. Reports on project progress; resolves problems to ensure objectives are met, including providing technical expertise to resolve issues.

Job Responsibilities (continued)

  • Reviews and provides opinion on RFP language to determine requirements for IT security statements in RFP. Evaluates responses from RFP to ensure proper IT Security is provided by vendors being considered. 


  • Provides general IT support such as participating in user acceptance, testing security devices or software updates, or piloting of new or updated technology. Interprets IT policies and procedures and responds to technical queries regarding security, procedures or system functionality. Conducts analysis and reporting on IT related issues; ensuring inventory for equipment is up to date.


  • Collaborates and advises on major projects, ensuring digital security standards are met.


  • Maintains awareness of “State of the Art” technologies applied in an IT investigative environment and an understanding of the future system requirements in order to foresee the changes required to meet the needs of evolving business and technologies. Manages their own training and keeps abreast of new and emerging training and technical developments via technical and training publications, training material, equipment documentation, as well as industry literature etc.


  • Performs other related duties for the cyber investigations team.



  • A University degree in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to): Computer Science, and Engineering
  • A College diploma in a field related to the position (as above),
  • Professional Cyber Security certification



  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in an IT field related to the position


Other Candidate Requirements

  • Enrollment in a specific designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions
  • Ability to attain and maintain a Secret Level security clearance and handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.

Essential requirements

  • Experience in network virtualization, cloud technologies and/or cryptography.
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management.
  • Experience writing or working with Threat and Risk Assessments.
  • Experience in product testing and evaluation.
  • Security-related system management of either Windows or Linux server(s) or workstation (including VMs).
  • Security configuration of enterprise telecommunications / unified communications platforms and/or enterprise networking (e.g. Cisco, Juniper).
  • Experience with security protocols (e.g. TLS, HTTPS, IPSec, IKE), communications protocols (e.g. VoIP/SIP, REST interfaces, RCP, TCP streaming) and/or analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, SIPp, etc.).
  • Experience in component hardening and/or writing/editing component hardening guides.
  • Evaluating and testing of IT security products against security requirements (e.g. Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, High Assurance standards).
  • Analyzing Security System Logs, Security Tools, and Data
  • Defining Process for Managing Network Security
  • Discovering Vulnerabilities in Information Systems
  • Information Technology Knowledge
  • Improving Security Efficiency
  • Familiarity with Security Regulations and Standards
