Job Description

 

The Manager, Business Processes manages the design, development and implementation of major business processes and enhancements to the SAP enterprise system for the assigned module. Works directly with Run Support, SAP consultants and business process owners to design and develop process-based solutions that are consistent with business transformation concepts and principles. Responsible for ensuring the process and system solutions meet the requirement of the business unit in the appropriate use and configuration of the SAP application. All solutions must focus on end-to-end processes and must ensure the integrity of processes are maintained. 

 

Ensures integration of the installed application to other corporate systems. Provides direction to business analysts, programmers and contractors on projects, business process reviews and/or system-related development.  Analyzes all aspects of business process changes as they relate to all technological changes, employee impact, cost benefit, implementation timeframe etc. and ensures that senior management is advised of the full impact(s). Defines SAP configuration strategies and directs the various teams and users in optimal use of the system. Reviews key business processes and makes recommendations to senior management on mission critical configuration elements. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Business Processes.  

 

1.Based on the client requirements, leads the investigation and development of strategy for business processes enhancements. Assesses the impact of the proposed changes on the information systems that supports them, the impact on employees (e.g. labour reduction, training) and organization structure. Ensures the proposed strategy is in line with the business direction established at the corporate level. Recommends to senior management priority areas for future development or enhancement. Ensures client requirements are consistent with the business direction established at the corporate level. Challenges business process owners on business requirements that do not conform to business transformation principles and concepts. 

 

2. Analyses and evaluates requirements for business process improvements and enhancements.  Reviews requirements with the user community to ensure that the management and system controls are properly identified and complies with corporate policies. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensures that all enhancements and resolutions fit the overall management information systems environment. 

 

3. Works with Purchasing and other cross-functional teams to create and evaluate Requests for Proposals (RFP) or Requests for Information (RFI’s) issued in support of planned business process improvements and enhancements. Conducts a Commercial review and evaluation of the alternatives. 

 

4. Plans and manages the design, testing and implementation of processes and system changes in accordance with scheduled system release packages.  

 

5. Designs, develops and delivers training programs and documentation in support of new or revised business process. Ensures that the online help quick reference (PAW) Performance Accelerator Website in the SAP instance is maintained and updated on a regular basis. 

 

6. Defines, develops and implements processes, policies and procedures that are in line with the Corporation’s best practices. Acts as a mentor for business process owners working with SAP driven business processes and creates learning and opportunities to improve the knowledge and skills of business process owners.

7. Provides subject matter expertise and functional direction on SAP business processing issues related to order management for all channels. Identifies the problems and associated risks with Run Support Team and provides recommendations and solutions to resolve the issues and opportunities for optimizing improvements.      

 

8. Acts as the security access authority for a given functional area. Reviews all system access requests and approves or denies access. Ensures system access controls are maintained and are appropriate for roles employees are assigned to when system changes are implemented. 

 

9. Liaises with internal auditors and corporate IS security to ensure implementation of appropriate security clearances within SAP. 

 

10. Participates with IS in the review of SAP upgrade releases and ‘hot patches’ to determine which best supports the business application’s functional requirements. Participates in the selection of Systems Integrator (SI) for external SAP Run Support.  

 

11. Consults on projects of a complex nature within or outside the Function. This support may include project management, process support methodology, or completion of deliverables such as functional designs, and process diagrams. 

 

12. Stays current with SAP release upgrades and SAP 3rd party complimentary software, business practices and benchmarking. 

 

13. Maintains close working relationships with clients.  Manages impact of change to client organization effectively. 

 

Qualifications

 

Education 

  • Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training 

 

  • Certification in one or more of the following SAP modules is an asset: 

 

    • Materials Management 
  •  
    • Sales and Distribution 
  •  
    • Warehouse Management  
  •  
    • Finance modules 

 

 

Experience 

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience  

 

  • Proficient knowledge of SAP application modules and hands on experience in Retail business processes 

 

  • 2 or more years’ experience managing people 

 

  • One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset 

 

 

Other Candidate Requirements 

  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs 

 

  • Designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (e.g. Finance & Engineering) 

 

  • Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience 

 

  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving 

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships 

 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
