We are seeking both recent graduates and experienced professionals who are self-motivated, committed to continuous improvement and passionate about state-of-the-art technology, to join our team of Postal System Technicians.

If you’re a skilled and safety-focused electro-mechanical technician, electronics technician, electrician, mechanical technologist, electrical mechanic, service technician, industrial instrument technician, robotics and automation technologist, repair technician, systems technologist, electronics technologist or maintenance technician, we have openings on the day, afternoon and midnight shifts for strong team players with good analytical, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills, who show initiative in resolving and preventing equipment issues.

As a technically skilled Postal System Technician in our plant facility, you will help keep mail and parcels moving efficiently through corrective and preventive maintenance and repairs on all mail- and parcel-sorting & handling equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs the more difficult testing, diagnosis, maintenance, adjustment and revision work, requiring a thorough knowledge of the mechanical electrical and electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic control and operating mechanisms of the equipment.  For example, performs trouble-shooting and repair of complex inter-locking and supervisory group control panels, keying circuits, memory storage circuits, readout and feedback circuits, and associated mechanical and electrical components throughout the installation;  locates and corrects malfunctions in scanning, triggering and other electro-mechanical and electronic circuits.


  • Observes the various components of the system in operation and applies appropriate testing methods and procedures to ensure continued proper functionning.


  • Locates the source of, and rectifies trouble in, involved or questionable cases, or in emergency situations where expert attention is required to locate and correct the defect quickly to avoid or minimize interruptions to mail processing activities.


  • Installs or alters equipment and circuits as directed.


  • Reports the circumstances surrounding equipment failures, and recommends measures for their correction.


  • Performs all preventive maintenance routines for the purpose of discovering incipient mechanical malfunctions and for the purpose of reviewing the standard of maintenance.  Initiates work orders requesting corrective actions for below standard conditions;  assists in the estimating of time and materials required.  Recommends changes in preventive maintenance procedures and practices to provide the proper level of maintenance;  assists in the revision of preventive maintenance checklists and the frequency of performing preventive maintenance tasks.  In instances of serious equipment failures conducts investigations to determine the cause of the breakdown and to recommend remedial action to prevent recurrence.


  • Uses necessary hand and power tools, gauging devices, and both electrical and electronic test equipment.


  • Reads schematics, blue prints, wiring diagrams and specifications in locating and correcting potential or existing malfunctions and failures.

  • Observes established safety practices and requirements pertaining to the type of work involved;  recommends additional safety measures as required.


  • Participates in training programs at the CPC Technical Training Centre, on-the-job, in trade schools and at manufacturers’ plants as required.


  • Performs area assurance duties.


  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts equipment to ensure correct operation.


  • Performs battery charging and changing tasks as required.


  • In the absence of the storeman, retrieves and obtains items used in support of maintenance and repair duties from stores.


  • Performs other job related tasks in support of primary duties.


• Completion at minimum of a 2 year post-secondary program in electronics. DEP in Quebec. (These trades/programs could include electronic technician/technologist)

• Two years experience within the last five in the maintenance and repair of a variety of electronic systems and equipment, or a diploma per educational requirements above funded by Canada Post in the last five years. 

• Understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation and modification of electronic systems and equipment.
•  Basic understanding of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and principles such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo controllers etc.

Physical Abilities:
•  Must be able to safely lift items that weigh less than 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds) in lifting heavy equipment and tools and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions including cramped spaces, heights and other awkward positions.

Skills and Abilities:
•  Operate a computer and use programs such as Windows, MS Office
•  Run and interpret computer diagnostics
